Imperfections
This acknowledges that minor flaws are a normal part of the handmade process and do not affect the quality or functionality of the item. As each piece is individually handcrafted, minor imperfections such as small air bubbles, slight surface irregularities, or subtle layer lines may be present. These are not defects but rather inherent attributes of the resin curing process.
Purpose & use of epoxy products
Epoxy products can be both beautiful & functional. The pieces offered through Jewels Epoxy are not “Food Grade” and should not be used to store or serve food.
Durability and care
- UV sensitivity: While we use high-quality, UV-resistant resin, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to yellow or amber over time. To preserve the clarity of your piece, we recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight.
- Heat sensitivity: Epoxy resin can be sensitive to extreme heat. Do not place warm or hot objects (over 80°F/27°C) on the surface, and do not use in a microwave or dishwasher. Do not use with any warm or hot food or liquids. Do not use as a candle holder. Do not leave in an area that can get hot, such as a vehicle. If the item gets very hot, it may become pliable. If this happens, simply return it to a flat, room-temperature surface to re-harden.
- Scratch resistance: Our resin is durable and scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or materials on your piece. For cleaning, use a soft, microfiber cloth, cool water and mild soap.
- Durability: Epoxy is more durable than glass in terms of impact resistance and longevity, as it is less prone to shattering and can better withstand environmental factors like UV, rain, and chemicals. Glass has superior compressive strength and scratch resistance on the surface, but it is brittle and will break or shatter when subjected to impact, unlike epoxy which can absorb and resist impact.
